"Dr. Marco is amazing, understanding and very knowledgeable with children that have ASD"
During the course of a normal pregnancy, a woman’s body undergoes an enormous amount of change. From the very onset, her center of balance will begin to shift forward, a process that continues as the baby grows. This changes the way that her spine curves, and places new tension on the discs, muscles, ligaments and nerves. The position of the pelvis in relation to the spine is also affected during pregnancy and can cause discomfort. By coming in for regular chiropractic adjustments throughout the course of a pregnancy, the practitioner can work to address these issues as they arise. It should also be noted that chiropractic care can assist with headaches, muscle strain and many other problems that are common during pregnancy.
The terms pelvic balance is used to describe the position of the pelvis in relation to the base of the spine. In many women, this balance is not optimal, even before pregnancy occurs. If the pelvis is tilted, that leaves less available room for the fetus to develop. This is a condition known as intrauterine constraint, which can be difficult for both mother and child. Through carefully targeted chiropractic adjustments, proper alignment of the pelvis can be achieved and maintained as the pregnancy develops. That can also promote proper birth positioning at the end of a pregnancy.
During the course of their education, chiropractors are trained in providing care to pregnant women. The techniques used during adjustments on a pregnant patient are modified to provide safe yet effective results in accordance with her needs and condition at the time of each appointment. Gentle pressure is used at all times, and there is never any type of jarring or “cracking” applications of force. Research has shown that chiropractic care during pregnancy can have a number of positive outcomes. Once the new addition arrives, the family chiropractor can provide care from infancy throughout childhood and beyond.
About The Webster Protocol
Chiropractic care benefits all aspects of your body's ability to be healthy. This is accomplished by working with the nervous system--the communication system between your brain and body. Doctors of Chiropractic work to correct spinal, pelvic and cranial misalignments (subluxations). When misaligned, these structures create an imbalance in surrounding muscles and ligaments. Additionally, the resulting nerve system stress may affect the body's ability to function optimally.
*The Webster protocol is a specific chiropractic sacral analysis and diversified adjustment. The goal of the adjustment is to reduce the effects of sacral subluxation/SI joint dysfunction. In so doing neuro-biomechanical function in the pelvis is improved*.
Dr. Larry Webster , founder of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association developed this adjustment as a safe means to restore proper pelvic balance and function. It was developed to restore normal physiological function of the mother and improve her comfort throughout pregnancy in preparation for a safer, easier birth. He reported that in women who presented with a breech baby, the results of the adjustment appeared to normalize pelvic neuro-biomechanics and facilitate optimal fetal positioning. As he taught other doctors of chiropractic this adjustment, they too reported positive changes in baby positioning.
